Skin appearance and texture are strictly dependent on the proper biosynthesis of biomolecules by fibroblasts. These cells continuously renovate the matrix surrounding the dermal cell population by orchestrating the synthesis of collagen and elastin. As a result, they support the structural integrity and elasticity of the skin.
The biosynthetic machinery is activated mainly by certain proteins, among which growth factors play a key role. However, ageing and environmental factors can compromise fibroblast function, creating a need for interventions that restore their regenerative capabilities.
The ACTV8SKN™ Actuator, powered by SIGMOLECS peptides—synthesized to mimic human growth factors—was developed to promote renovation pathways and counteract ageing processes.
This research investigated the impact of the Actuator on the signalling pathways governing COL1A1 and ELN cellular expression, as well as its efficacy in improving skin appearance, in comparison with a growth factor-enriched competitor product (CP).
