What is laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal is a painless and safe method for permanent face and body hair removal using medical lasers that destroy hair follicles at their root through thermolysis. For complete results, several treatments are necessary, and with each session, the hair becomes sparser and weaker.

Preparation for laser hair removal

After consulting with a dermatologist, it's necessary to follow specific instructions to ensure successful laser hair removal:

One month before treatment, hair should only be removed by shaving or depilatory cream and should not be waxed

Although the Lasàm Clinic lasers can successfully perform laser hair removal on tanned skin immediately after returning from vacation, dermatologist recommendation is to wait 3 to 4 weeks for the tan to fade before treatment

If laser hair removal is performed on the face and neck, skin-lightening treatments like chemical peels should not be done beforehand, nor should products containing retinol and vitamin C be used

The day before or on the day of treatment, shave the area of the body where laser hair removal will be performed. The treated area must be clean, without skincare creams and oils, makeup, or deodorant

After laser hair removal

The treatment does not cause irritation and allergies, but there may be mild redness on the treated area, which usually subsides within 30 minutes to an hour, especially if the skin is sensitive. In the days following treatment, it is advisable to avoid exposure to sunlight and use products with a high protection factor.

How many treatments are necessary?

Laser hair removal involves a series of several treatments, and their number and frequency depend on the body part being treated, the density, and thickness of the hair itself. The laser beam only affects hair in the growth phase, and during the first treatment, 20 to 30 percent of existing hair is destroyed.

Treatments are repeated at intervals of 2 months on the body and 1 month on the face, and for permanent results, an average of 4 to 6 treatments is required.

Is laser hair removal really permanent?

The results will be optimal if a medical laser is by trained professionals. For truly permanent effects, for the majority of patients, maintaining results requires one treatment per year on the body and one every six months on the face.

Ideal candidates for laser hair removal are individuals with fair skin and darker hair.
